The neighborhood is named after the Feliz Family of Californios, who had owned the area since 1795. Jose Vicente Feliz was granted Rancho Los Feliz, a 6,647 acre piece of land that is now become Los Feliz and Silverlake. In 1882, 4,071 acres were acquired by Colonel Griffith.
Los Feliz is funky and semi-paced, with an endless number of cool blocks to explore and, unfortunately, a limited number of parking spaces. During the day, markets, cute restaurants, and coffee shops are a big draw. Nightlife is hopping with bars and cocktail lounges as well as restaurants. Individuality and fashion statements are encouraged.
Los Feliz neighborhood has numerous high quality schools in the area as well as in the surrounding Los Feliz neighborhoods.
